PAN Card Application

Your Permanent Account Number or PAN is a unique identifier issued by the Income Tax department of India to the taxpayers. The PAN is a unique, 10-character alpha-numeric identifier, and is issued in the form of AAAPL1234C. PAN is used as an important proof of identification in India. Visit your nearest Muthoot Fincorp branch and get your PAN card by submitting your PAN Card application with us. Please note, you have to duly fill and submit a PAN Card application form when applying for a new Card. You are entitled to one PAN Card only.

Importance of PAN Card

Like Aadhaar and driving license, a PAN card also issued to foreign nationals on valid visa as it is not a proof of nationality. This number is almost mandatory for financial transactions such as opening a bank account, receiving taxable salary or professional fees, sale or purchase of assets above specified limits, etc.

Process for New PAN Card Application

Pan card application form 49A should be used by Indian citizens who have never held a PAN card before. If you are a foreign citizen who pays income tax in India, you should use the new PAN card application Form 49AA.

As per the government norms, you will be required to pay the processing fee of 135/- if you have an Indian communication address or 1045/- if you have an overseas communication address. This fee is subject to change.

A proof of address which could be:

  • Passport / Aadhar card / Elector’s photo identity card / Driving license / Passport of the spouse / Post office passbook / Latest tax assessment order / Domicile certificate / Property registration document / Bank account statement not more than 3 months old ( in copy) / Electricity bill or water bill or consumer gas connection card(in copy)

A proof of date of birth for Individuals and HUFs which could be:

  • Aadhaar card / Elector’s photo identity / Driving license / Passport / Matriculation certificate / Birth certificate / Pension payment order / Marriage certificate / Affidavit sworn before a magistrate stating the date of birth / Domicile certificate issued by government

The documents required for NRI new pan card application (Form 49AA) include:

A proof of identity which could be:

  • Passport / OCI card / PIO card

A proof of address which could be:

  • Passport / OCI card / PIO card / Bank account statement in the country of residence / NRE bank account statement in India / Certificate of residence or residential permit issued by state policy authority / A copy of Indian visa and an appointment letter or contract with an Indian company
